UTAH
The history of our great state goes back at least 75 million years, when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, and Utah was at the center of it all. Believe it or not, Utah was hot and humid, full of swamps and tropical vegetation, and dinosaurs were plentiful. The Utah Raptor, the largest known of the species is among the many prehistoric creatures found in the area.
The area is also steeped in Native American history, evidence of a prehistoric culture can be found throughout the state in the form of petroglyphs and pictographs and can be fully explored during driving and hiking tours, and in many museums and cultural centers throughout the state. The Uintah and Ouray Reservation, the second largest in the country, is located just 150 miles east of Salt Lake City. Utah is currently home to more than 50 tribal nations and the site of multiple annual traditional events and pow-wows.
Modern Utah was settled in the 1800s by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seeking a place of solace to practice their religion and provide for their families. It has since grown to one of the best places in America to live, with a robust economy, excellent lifestyle, and educational opportunities. Learn more at Utah.com!
